Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor speaking, consultant, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the business. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment which covered 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran, who was the second child of 10 from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was an exemplary household worker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved between jobs throughout Corcoran's youth. Her family sometimes depended on food delivery for free from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who occasionally drank too much and did her mother a disservice and contempt, particularly when he was drinking. Corcoran was a troubled student in school. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. She attended an area Catholic elementary school and started high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several classes during her freshman year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
